MH 611 Advanced Portfolio Art
Grades 9-12
Semester
This class is a multi-year class where students explore the elements and principles of art-making, continually building
upon the previous level. Each level provides in-depth studies allowing students to develop their skills, create a portfolio,
and establish a personal style through both structured and independent work. Creating, collaborating, and presenting
work will allow students to visually communicate in innovative and creative ways. Students will explore drawing,
painting, and mixed media through 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional work. Students may elect to do an advanced
placement portfolio (see requirements under Advanced Placement Art.)
MATERIALS
GRADING
To reduce the frequent sharing/cleaning of materials, and to enable students to get the MOST out of the curriculum, the arts department recommends that students create their own material “kits” for classes. This way, we limit risk of contamination and students can bring their kits home to participate in the activities on remote days. NOTE: the ONLY items that are required are in red. Everything else is a recommendation so the student can get as much out of the class as possible. Rest assured that any materials, tools, and equipment that are used in the art rooms will be thoroughly sanitized!
