What is the SparkRoom?

The Sparkroom is a dynamic maker space/classroom where imagination and innovation come to life! Designed to help students seek their spark, the space offers hands-on experiences with state-of-the-art tools and technology. Students collaborate with local artists, designers, and makers through engaging residencies and workshops that fuse traditional and digital artmaking as part of their coursework. These real-world projects encourage creative expression, cultural identity, and community connection—transforming the classroom into a vibrant cultural hub. By making the arts accessible and relevant, SparkRoom nurtures student well-being and empowers the next generation of creative thinkers, while contributing to the broader creative vitality of our region.

Caroline

(Photography Student)

"Not being able to move things around has been really inconvenient. Having a flexible and adaptable workspace would allow us to tackle a wide variety of photography projects and be more independent with all the great technology we have."

PAID OPPORTUNITIES

We’re excited to invite local artists, makers, and designers to partner with Monomoy Regional High School’s SparkRoom—our evolving art & design makerspace where students explore creativity, design thinking, and innovation through hands-on, real-world experiences.

Launching phase two this fall and expanding through the spring semester, SparkRoom connects students with practicing creatives who can bring their expertise, processes, and perspectives into the classroom through collaborative projects and design challenges.

We’re currently seeking local artists, makers, businesses, and designers for paid opportunities to work alongside students throughout the 2026–27 school year. We’re especially interested in creatives whose practices connect with our design curriculum and our growing collection of specialized equipment and technologies.

Priority areas include:

  • Apparel & Fashion Design

  • Textile Design & Printmaking

  • Laser Cutting & Digital Fabrication

  • Upcycling & Sustainable Design

  • Sublimation Printing & Production

  • Mixed Media Arts (that combine digital and hands-on processes)

  • 3D Design & Wearable Art

  • Machine Embroidery Design / Fiber Arts

  • Other creative practices that connect with art, design, and technology

These partnerships are designed to give students the opportunity to learn from working artists, tackle authentic creative challenges, experiment with new technologies, and see where their own ideas can take them.

If your creative practice could spark something in our students, we’d love to hear from you! Send us a letter of interest in the form to the left.
